Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Hello Friends,

Now-a-days people are very much obsessed about particular writers, if writer’s name is from white-country without having doubt or any kinds of questions suddenly one any feel attraction towards him/his while Black-People’s name may make us laugh for a while. We all are saying that we are neutral or unbiased, but do it really true? Why even name has capacity of attraction or power, we can also call it rather superiority. The answer is very simple that we all are needed to be feminist. Another prominent thing is that we are habituated to see any story from single side. As it is said that, “Until the lion tells his side of the story, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” Worthy to note, it’s an African proverb. Here, Lion means African People & Hunter mean People who colonized. It frankly describes us that what we are seeing is just one side of the story. Here I am sharing my views regarding this current african feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

(1)We all should be Feminist

In this video Adichie defines the term which has become now-a-days very handy and derogatory. Gender and class are different points of oppression. Patriarchy which is rooted in society is well classified through the example of school monitor. ”The higher you go, fewer women there are. After watching this video several questions provekes in our mind that “What is more important? Only physical strength or intelligence also matters? Its society’s typical norms which makes women weaker! It also throwing flashes towards mentality of women, especially Nigerian women.  The very spine of this video is that why do we need feminism even today?

Here, We also remember Simone De Beauvoir’s concept of “Second-Sex” that women are not born but made.

Here, I am sharing video of my   presentation about this topic and         flashing some light from our day-to-day life.

Adichie is specially focuses about Nigeria but suffering of women is equal throughout the world. For example, we will always see male is paying the bill rather than female, if both are breadwinner. Why? The most attractive point is that Adichie doesn’t talk about being anti-men, but try to locate burning points in friendly way. The very question provokes in our mind is that when will society accept women as what they are or rather also as human being? If men and women both are identical parts of society, why both are not treated equally? Having womb is a bliss but women are enforced to believe it as a curse! The very point which Adichie advanced at the discussion is “FEMALE-APE & MALE-APE”. What we are doing on the name of culture is also dangerous and treacherous. It is said that, if you honorably want to know what’s the substantial development or growth of the country, knock around women’s condition, treatment of women and slang words which are being used for women. Bewilderment is that you will reach to initial richness!

(2)  Talk on importance of Truth in Post-Truth Era

We are living in a era where we have to take decisions on our own. We can’t rely on anyone. Now-a-days it is very difficult to define what is truth or which is post truth. The meaning of the name Chimamanda means “personal spirit/God will never fail.” Should we call a lie a lie when is a lie To come out from fake truths of our self is only the biggest thing which we all should need to do.

It is also very exigent that what is actually not truth? How can one get distinctiveness between ‘truth v/s False’ rather ‘Truth v/s Post-Truth’!

Here, Adichie beholds very unique idea about Post-Truth through giving example of Harvard University’s student. After watching this video, significant question arises to our mind is that is it really fair to come out as only leader or as higher personality from university? When we will able to unlock our mind from exemplary mentality, to obtain actual human quality is also hard-won. If students of IIT/IIM are also feeling proud of getting jobs of 3,00,000 to 5,00,000, what’s the use of these kinds of institutes if their students are not adequate to provide jobs to unemployed. They should capable of helping to other whose eyes are feast for jobs to satisfy hunger of the self and also of their family. What literally one is studying with the purpose to grab job is actually concept of Post-Truth.

Certainly we should have a look on our self that, in every situations from the childhood we are told “Everything will be fine, don’t Cry!” but we should told by themselves that “Everything will never be fine. You have to learn from your experience. At each and every stage of life you have dilemma and you have to learn vigorously to come over it. Crying will make you weaker than you are!” This is Post-Truth. We have to find focal point and this is what which is Adichie is telling about at some level. Here we can take example of the Bollywood film “MARYCOM”. At the very stump of the movie, director has shown kind of an urgency and antagonistic or unfriendly thing happened with Marycom when she has to go for boxing, but we shouldn’t be influenced by watching this as exact fact. There may be some complication on over her final Boxing round but it may just not like as it is shown at very seconds. It’s just for artistic creativity.

Thus, Adichie gives very significant ideas. His ideas are not just provocative but it flashes some lights upon the realities of our world which must be discovered. Her voice supports truth rather truth of existence which must be accepted!

Thank you.
